8 Amazing Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar
1.) General Household Cleaner
Mix 50/50 acv and water. Use this concoction to clean just about anything; counters, microwave, mirrors, windows, even the floor. Plus, it also acts as a disinfectant. We always use this mix to clean anything the baby might put in her mouth. 😉
2.) Dissolve Kidney Stones
Adding a tablespoon of ACV to a cup of your daily water can actually help dissolve kidney stones. Internal usage helps cleanse the body and kidneys.
I had quite a few kidney stones my senior year of high school and early years of college. That’s when I turned natural and started drinking ACV daily. Didn’t have a single stone for about 8 years… And then I got pregnant and my body craved too much calcium.
3.) Combat Congestion
If you’re congested from either allergies or the common cold, you need to try this trick.
Place a tablespoon of ACV in a cup with boiling hot water. Then lean over and deeply inhale the steam. If its too much for you, just hover over the cup for a minute or two. Your airways will clear right up.
4.) Hair Care
Apple cider vinegar in your wash routine makes for a healthy body and shine to your hair. Every mom could use a little extra in their hair care routine, after all that tugging and pulling on it those little ones like to do. Not to mention all the changes it goes through during and after pregnancy due to those crazy hormone changes.
Grab an old shampoo bottle and fill it 1/3 of the way with ACV and the rest with water. After shampooing and rinsing your hair, pour some of the ACV mix over your entire scalp and down the entire length of your hair. Massage into your scalp, and let sit one to two minutes before rinsing.
Do this ACV rinse once a week, and you’ll soon find yourself to have a healthy, beautiful head of hair!
5.) Skin Care
Apple cider vinegar is a cost effective, 100% organic way to keep your skin healthy and beautiful. Using a 50/50 mix of ACV and water to wash your face helps balance the pH of your skin, fights acne, reduces wrinkles & age spots, and removes toxins from your face. ACV is useful for other skin issues as well, such as removing warts and treating ringworm.
We love cooking with ACV in our house. Marinate your meat and fish for about 30 minutes before baking. Your meat/fish will turn out juicy, tender, and delicious!
7.) Repel Fleas
Use the 50/50 mix of acv and water to repel and/or reduce fleas. Spray on furniture, floors, or anywhere your pet may lay. You can also spray directly on your pets fur.
Bonus, it will actually help improve the condition of their skin & fur as well. Just be sure to not use too much and have the scent over-power them. Remember, their sense of smell is MUCH stronger than ours.
*Be sure to talk with your vet first if your pet has any health or skin issues.
8.) Dog Ear Cleaner
Combine equal parts of apple cider vinegar and distilled water. Soak some cotton balls with the mixture, place cotton ball down into dog’s ear canal and rub at the base of the ear. Pull the cotton ball out, let the dog shake his/her head, and then clean the outer ear. Use this mixture every other week to once weekly for preventative maintenance.
*Always consult with your veterinarian if you think your dog may have an ear infection, has a skin issue, or any serious health conditions.
How to Choose the Best Apple Cider Vinegar
Choosing the best apple cider vinegar is important because they are not all made the same, and some may not contain the nutrition and benefits that you’re looking for.
When picking out apple cider vinegar, be sure to choose one that is raw, certified organic, unpasteurized, and contains “the mother.” The mother is all that brown stuff floating around at the bottom of the bottle, and while it may look unappealing, it’s actually the best part and has all of the live bacteria and enzymes that creates all these amazing benefits of ACV.
Also, be sure to avoid plastic bottles that might be made up of toxic material. Best to just stick with glass. Braggs is usually my go-to for ACV.
